New York Fashion Week Spring 2012 Colors!

Hey Luvlies!

Below is a small recap of New York's Fashion Week Spring 2012 collection and these hues will be taking over your favorite fashions come spring.
Citrus: So many collections were dominated by lemon yellow, lime, and tangerine.

An array of blues: Cerulean, navy, cornflower, indigo, chambray – you can’t go wrong with a blue hue…

Nude: Still taking over the runways. It may even be better than black. Perfect to pair with your citrus or neon pieces – it lends the highlighter shades a sense of calmness.

Sherbert: Neons transition to calmer ice cream inspired tones.

Pink Passion: All shades of Barbie’s favorite color step out in punchy prints, lush fabrics, and monochrome palettes.

We'll be ahead of the game for sure..

The Maxi Skirt

In 2009, it was all about the Maxi dress - fast forward to 2011 and it's skirt-ified cousin is taking over! With a slimming silhouette, feminine vibe and ankle brushing length, the maxi skirt was featured in several major fashion shows.

The beauty of the maxi skirt lies in its versatility. A basic maxi skirt will make you look elegant and feminine while bold floral patters gives you a more bohemian style. Below are a few celebs rocking the maxi skirt trend:

Our version of the maxi skirt can be found here

It's a lovely coral color which is really a fun color for summer and even all year round! Mix it with a floral tank and some great accessories, you'll be good to go!

Priced at TT $160.00, it definitely won't break the bank!

My First Tom Yum Soup!

Before I met my husband, I have never tried Sushi, Chai Tea or Pelau mixed with raisins and marshmallows and a variety of other (weird) foods that he introduced me to. Yes, they were all completely strange to me because growing up, all I was used to was rice, beans, veggies and chicken or fish.

Not that I'm complaining because I absolutely love my Trinbago cuisine (chicken buss-up-shut is my ultimate, all time favorite food!), but trying new foods was a challenge for me.

I had sushi for the first time almost two years ago and I loved it. Although I had shrimp tempura the first time (fried shrimp sushi..haha) I was totally impressed with myself for eating seaweed without gagging! The spread below was from a sushi bar in Boston, after I graduated to raw sushi and caviar..

Now about two weeks ago, I tried Tom Yum Soup for the first time, right here in Trinidad! I love going to Kaizan Restaurant at Movietowne and this soup was recommended by a very helpful waiter. I'll be honest, it was really ordered by my husband,  but I remember the first spoonful I tried.

I wasnt sure if I loved it, or just tolerated it. But each subsequent spoonful was more and more appealing and the flavors were really coming together for me. To sum it up, the waiter had to bring an extra spoon because I couldn't get enough...

It has shrimp, clams, tomatoes, carrots, fish sauce, chilli sauce and other stuff that I can't remember. Now it's a soup I crave! You definitely need to try this! It won't replace the buss-up-shut but if your'e willing to try new cuisine, it's a must have..

The Chiffon Cardigan

The kimono, as I like to call it, is also known as a sheer cardigan, a cape, an open blouse or chiffon top. Despite what it's called, there are a few things to keep in mind while shopping for a kimono… the fabric should be a sheer, lightweight chiffon or silk-like material and the fit should be loose and flowy, with long, wide sleeves.

The length of the back just depends on what type of look you're going for and what you plan to wear it with. A longer kimono is more dramatic and fashion forward such as the pink kimono below. For the shorter version, hitting around the back pockets of your jeans is a great look too. I suggest pairing the kimono with bell-bottom jeans or shorts.

I personally love the cardigan that's available on our website

It instantly adds oomph to any simple outfit. It's great for a dinner night with jeggings, some stunning bangles and black pumps or wedges!

Trend Addiction-Striped Jackets!

I seriously can't get enough of this trend! I have mentioned before that nautical stripes are going this season, but let me be more specific. The striped blazer is a fantastic item to add to your wardrobe!

There are a variety of jackets with thick and thin lines, find the jacket that fits your figure the best. Stripes draw attention and dominate an outfit. Instead of pairing it with solid colors, it'll look just as great with some floral patterns.

Now  this Givenchy blazer that Keri is wearing has a price tag of US$1500.00, it won't fit most ladies budgets, wait - let's be realistic here, none of us could ever afford it..even if we could, there's the mortgage, car loan and courts! lol

So here are Candy Girls designer inspired versions of these nautical jackets. It's guaranteed to not break the bank!

Have fun shopping ladies!

Romper or Jumpsuit? You decide!

Are we all ready for some mixed feelings? Rompers and Jumpsuits – half childhood past time (emphasis on past…) and half potentially sexy, gamine summer piece. How are we supposed to feel about this? Nostalgic? Excited? Childlike? I think most of us might be just confused. But no doubt these beauties are absolutely one of the hugest trends this summer, and they have made frequent appearances on the runway.
Who says that they’re just for kids? Why not skip the separates in favour of a fashionable one-piece romper. This time around, there’s one around that’s appropriate for almost every occasion from beach boardwalk to swanky gala – it’s just a matter of choosing the right fabric & cut.
Choose a short romper for daytime wear (shopping and Maracas Beach) with big sunglasses and cute flat sandals or choose a jumpsuit for an evening out friends (casual or formal event) with platform pumps and a statement necklace.
Our recommendations for these jumpsuits from SHOPCANDYGIRLS.COM - cute flat sandals, stackable bangles, a floppy hat and sunglasses...Would you rock the romper trend??
